ANGEL BAVARIAN CAKE

1 pt. milk
4 egg yolks
1 cup sugar
2 tablespoons flour
pinch of salt
1 package plain gelatin
1/2 cup water
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 pint whipped cream
4 egg whites
1 large angel food cake

Make a thin custard of 1 pt. milk, 4 egg yolks, 1 cup sugar, 2 tblsp. flour, and pinch of salt. Add 1 package of plain gelatin, dissolved in 1/2 cup cold water, to custard, while hot. Let this mixture cool. Then add 1 tsp. vanilla to custard and fold in 1/2 pt. whipped cream and 4 egg whites beaten stiff. Break up 1 large angel food cake. Line a greased tube pan with cake crumbs and then top with custard. Repeat, alternately layers. Let stand in fridge overnight. Ice with 1/2 pt. whipped cream.
