Mortie Carl Brashaw is our great- grandfather. He enlisted in the Navy when he was too young, therefore he had to have given them an age that was older than he was. He became a Chief Petty Officer, and was in the SeaBees in the South Pacific. He did not return home from World War II. We visit his grave on Memorial Day to honor and remember him.

In memory of my Dad...he served aboard the USS Pensacola during WWII. He was the best Dad anyone could ever ask for. I miss him so much. When my mom died,he moved in with my daughter and I. I will treasure that time forever. My daughter grew very close to her grandpa. He was proud to serve our country. Anchor's Away Dad..Love ya

Lonnie spent nine patrols on 2 different FBM Submarines durning and after the Vietnam war. He spent 23 years in the service of his country. He died September 24, 1987 with service connected disablity.

My beloved husband entered the Navy at 17 and served on the USS Ticonderoga. Like many WW2 veteran's he is losing so many of his friends. We do this to honor him and his comrades. His love of God and Country makes us proud every day.

My husband, William E. Embry, Jr., who I dearly miss, served with the 63rd U. S. Naval Construction Battalion from 1942 until 1946, twenty-six months of this service was in the South Pacific during World War II.

Our children and grandchildren also miss their Dad and Poppa very much. He is missed especially during the holidays, birthdays and special events such as graduation exercises, awards programs, etc., that all the grand children are involved in now, he would be SO proud of all their accomplishments, I think, even more so with the grandchildren than he was with our own children, and that would be a lot.

However, we know, that life continues as long as there is love and there will always be love in our family for this wonderful husband, father, grandfather and true American who left his earthly home on December 20, 1996, for his eternal home.

Dad, My Father was a proud man, and a good provider for his family. He did not speak of his experiences during the war. I know he endured some pretty horrific things during his tour, things the average person couldn't even imagine. I know my Dad is watching over his granddaughter that is currently fighting for our freedom in Kuwait. Thank You to all who have served this Great Nation. I am Proud to have served in the Marine Corps for my Family and country.
