5 Great Destinations When Traveling With Kids
Choosing a destination for your family's next vacation can be a big challenge. Finding the right vacation when traveling with children requires that you select a trip that will keep everyone entertained while setting the stage for memories that will last a lifetime! There are some very kid-friendly locales on the map that your kids will love almost as much as you do. Let's look at five top destinations for kid-friendly travel.
Red River Gorge, Kentucky
Nothing beats the mountain views that you and your family will enjoy while backpacking your way through scenic and legendary Red River Gorge, Kentucky. Located just east of Lexington, Kentucky, the Red River Gorge is a regional favorite for mountain climbers and backpackers, but is also perfect for families looking to do a bit of good old-fashioned camping. Nothing brings the family together like sleeping under the stars and making S'mores around the campfire. You can also jet on over to Natural Bridge State Resort Park where you can climb up to and stand on top of one of the world's largest natural bridge structures in the world. Natural Bridge State Resort Park also has a top notch lodge and cabins and features weekend entertainment of bluegrass music and square dancing, bumper boats, go-kart track, and snake pit where your family can view snakes of all sorts and types.
Orlando, Florida
Orlando, Florida is home to a bunch of major theme parks, including Sea World (for animal lovers), Universal Studios Orlando (great for teen kids), and of course, Walt Disney World (something for everyone who loves Disney). There's also the Epcot Center, Discovery Cove, Magic Kingdom Park, and Hollywood Studios. With so many parks to choose from, it is best to do a bit of 'exploring' online prior to planning your trip. With a theme park vacation, you can rest assured that "kids" from three to ninety-nine will have fun.
Los Angeles and Anaheim, California
Another great theme park destination is San Diego, California, home to every kid's dream vacation spot - Disneyland, located in Anaheim. But there's more to the area than simply seeing Mickey and Minnie in person. You'll also find the El Capitan Theatre, Universal Studios Hollywood, the La Brea Tar Pits, and much, much more. Your kids will never be bored with a vacation to L. A.!
New York, New York
There are really a lot of fun things to do in New York, whether you're bringing along a car load of toddlers or teens. From the American Museum of Natural History on the Upper West Side to the Statue of Liberty in Lower Manhattan, you'll find lots of activities to keep the kids busy and happy. Enjoy fun food, shows, and horse drawn carriage rides or join the kids on a ride to the top of the Empire State Building. There's also Coney Island, where you can grab world famous Coney dogs and take a whirl on the Ferris wheel.
Gatlinburg, Tennessee
Gatlinburg, Tennessee is adjacent from the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, a family favorite vacation destination spot. Gatlinburg is the embodiment of small town life, and a visit to Gatlinburg is like walking the streets of yesteryear, when everything was much simpler. From old fashioned wagon rides to down home cooking, you'll find no grass growing under your feet in Gatlinburg. And once you're in Gatlinburg, you're just minutes away from Nashville, Tennessee, home of country music and the Grand Old Opry and Opryland theme park, and Pigeon Forge, home to Dolly Parton's "Dollywood" theme park.
